What is it?

Not every Gravity Forms field makes sense in a summary. Below you find the field types the plugin supports, what the summary shows for each of them and which add-on fields work out of the box. Only supported fields can be selected in the Visible fields selector and get the Live Summary tab in the form editor.

Standard fields

  • Single line text, Paragraph text, Number, Email, Phone, Website, Hidden, Username
The value as it was typed. With a Value Prefix or Suffix on the Live Summary tab you can add a unit or a currency.
  • Drop down, Radio buttons, Multiple choice
The chosen choice. By default the value of the choice is shown, tick “Show choice labels” on the Live Summary tab to show the label instead. The “other” choice shows the text that was typed.
  • Checkboxes, Multi select
    One line per chosen choice.
  • Image choice
The chosen choice, with its image when “Show images in summary” is ticked. Read more here: Display images
  • Name
The name parts that are turned on for the field, in one line: prefix, first, middle, last and suffix.
  • Address
The address parts in one line. The order of the parts can be changed with the gotrls_address_field_format hook.
  • Date, Time
The date in the format of the field, the time with the 12 or 24 hour clock of the field.
  • Section
The section title as a heading in the summary. A section only shows when at least one field under it has a value.

Pricing fields

  • Product
The product with its quantity and price. Options and quantity fields are added automatically when you select the product, see Price breakdown for what is shown for the options.
  • Shipping
The chosen shipping method with its price, shown below the products. A shipping cost of 0 is left out.
  • Coupon (Gravity Forms Coupons add-on)
Every applied coupon code with its discount.
  • Subtotal, Tax, Discount (GP eCommerce Fields)
Each on its own line below the products. Read more here: GP Ecommerce Fields
  • EU VAT (EU VAT for Gravity Forms)
The VAT amount, or “included” when the prices include VAT.

Add-on fields (since v2.2)

Fields of other plugins that are built on a standard Gravity Forms field work without any extra code. They can be selected like any other field and show what the standard field would show. Choice fields of add-ons always show the label of the choice, because their values are internal ids. Some examples:

  • GP Terms of Service
The “I agree” text when the box is ticked.
  • Gravity Flow user, multi user, role, assignee and discussion fields
The name of the chosen user or role, the typed text for the discussion field.
  • GP Unique ID
Only in the {live_summary} mergetag, because the ID is created when the form is submitted.
  • Your own field type
Developers can add any field type, see Adding a custom field type.

Not supported yet

List, Consent, File upload, Signature, the Post fields, Repeater, GP Nested Forms and the Quiz, Survey, Poll and Chained Selects add-ons are not shown in the summary yet. Support for most of these is planned; this page is updated when they are added.
