Price breakdown

What is it?

A product in the summary shows its label, its quantity and its price. When the product has option fields, the chosen options can be listed under it. The “Price breakdown” setting decides what that list looks like. It applies to the normal lines, the grouped products table and, since v2.2, the {live_summary} mergetag.

  • Disable
    Only the product with its price. The chosen options are not listed, their price is included in the product price.
  • labels only
    The chosen options are listed under the product without their prices.
  • labels + prices
    Every chosen option is listed with its price, and the base price of the product is shown as the first line of the breakdown.
  • labels + prices, hide zero amounts
    The same, but options that do not change the price show their label only, and a base price of 0 is left out. This keeps the breakdown clean for products where only a few options cost extra. This is the default for new forms and new Live Summary fields.

Hide single quantities

By default a product with a quantity of 1 shows “1 x” in front of its price. Turn on “Hide single quantities” to leave that out. The quantity is still shown when it is 2 or more. This setting is on for new forms and new Live Summary fields.

How to use it?

For the side summary: open the Live Summary settings of your form, go to the Content tab and find the Products panel. It only shows when the form has product or option fields. Pick a Price breakdown and switch “Hide single quantities” on or off. For a Live Summary field: both settings are on the General tab of the field settings in the form editor.

Tip: The prices of the options and the base price never include the quantity. The product line shows the price including the options, multiplied by the quantity, just like the Gravity Forms total.

Show “included” instead of nothing

With “hide zero amounts” the options without a price show only their label. If you prefer a word such as “included” in the price column, use the JavaScript filter gotrls_zero_price_placeholder:

gform.addFilter( 'gotrls_zero_price_placeholder', function( placeholder, price, formId, fieldId ) {
	return 'included'; // Change this to what you want it to be. Keep the quotes.
} );

Developer hooks

gotrls_product_breakdown_mode to change the mode for one product

gotrls_zero_price_placeholder to show a placeholder instead of a zero amount

Hiding the price or quantity with CSS

In certain cases you may want to hide the quantity or price of a product line completely. This can be easily accomplished by adding a little bit of CSS. Check the settings above first: often “Hide single quantities” or the price breakdown already does what you need.

ATTENTION!
This article is about the normal layout. If you want to hide columns in the Grouped Product table then please refer to the following article instead: https://geekontheroad.com/documentation/live-summary-for-gravity-forms/hooks/gotrls_default_grouped_columns
