Where to find them
Go to Forms > Settings and click on “EU Vat Add-On” in the left hand menu. The page has four parts: your license, your default tax country, the VAT rates and a help box.

License key
Enter the license key from your account and press “Activate License”. A valid license gives you plugin updates and support. When the license is active, the button changes into “Deactivate License”. Deactivate it before you move the plugin to another website, so the activation becomes free again.
When the activation doesn’t work, the page tells you why:
- Your license key expired on … Renew your license in your account.
- Invalid license. or This appears to be an invalid license key Check that you copied the complete key.
- Your license key has reached its activation limit. Deactivate it on a website you no longer use, or upgrade your license.
- Your license is not active for this URL. or Your license key has been disabled. Get in touch with support.

Default tax country
Select the country where your company is located. This single setting drives three things:
- The reverse charge exception. A valid VAT number from your own country still pays VAT. The reverse charge only applies to valid VAT numbers from the other EU countries.
- The default rate. Its rate is used when the customer has not picked a country yet, when no billing address is linked, for customers outside the EU when “Apply VAT worldwide” is on, for everyone when “Disable variable VAT” is on, and for the deduction in Prices include VAT.
- The starting country of the billing address. The linked Address field opens with your country selected.

As long as no country is selected, a notice reminds you in the Gravity Forms screens: “Please select your default tax country to use the EU VAT for Gravity Forms addon”. Until then the plugin falls back to Estonia, so don’t skip this one.
Tax rates
Click “View default VAT rates” to open a list of every EU country with its normal and reduced rate. All EU countries are available by default. You can change a rate or remove a country with a small piece of code, see VAT rates.
