Change the default country per form

Updated 15 September 2026

What is it?

The default tax country in the plugin settings applies to all your forms. When one form sells for a company in another country, you can give that form its own default tax country with a small piece of code.

The default tax country of that form then decides which VAT numbers get no reverse charge, which rate is used when the customer’s country is not known, and which country the billing address starts with.

How to use it?

Copy the below code to the functions.php of your child theme or to your snippet plugin. Change 2 into the ID of your form, and FR and 20 into the country code and standard rate of your country. The rates are listed in VAT rates; Greece is EL.

<?php
// Form 2 uses France (20%) as its default tax country.
add_filter( 'gotreu_default_tax_country_info_2', function( $default ) {
    return array( 'FR', 20 );
} );

Need it for more forms? Copy the three lines and change the form ID.

This replaces the longer snippet from our older blog post; both keep working. All details are in the developer docs of the gotreu_default_tax_country_info filter.
